One Man's Way Out

Recovering Addicts Helping Addicts Recover book cover

David Lewis started smoking weed as a kid in a run-down Irving apartment, and spent the next decades sinking deeper — cocaine and meth, the streets, losing his kids, losing everything. Then one October night in 2010, he got clean. And stayed clean.

Recovering Addicts Helping Addicts Recover is his unfiltered true story: the drugs, the rock bottom, the long climb back, and the sixteen years of freedom on the other side. Written for the person still struggling — so they can see another ending is possible.

About David

16 Years Clean

David Lewis is a recovering addict from Texas who got clean in October 2010 and never looked back. He works a rotating shift schedule at Presco Trident Solutions, leads the Recovering Addicts Helping Addicts Recover recovery community of over 1,000 members, and tells his story wherever someone needs to hear it.

"I didn't get clean to keep it to myself."

His memoir grew out of late-night posts to people still in the struggle — raw, honest, no judgment. Today the mission is bigger than one book: a community, a newsletter, and a voice for everyone who believes recovery is possible.

In His Words

Recovery, Out Loud

Rock bottom isn't the end of your story. It's the foundation you rebuild on.

Nobody gets clean for someone else. You get clean because you're finally sick of who the drugs made you.

One day at a time isn't just a saying. It's the only way any of us ever made it.

Your past doesn't disqualify you. It's the reason someone else will believe they can make it too.

Shame keeps you sick. The minute you tell the truth about where you've been, shame loses its grip.

Nobody's coming to save you — and that's good news. It means the power was yours the whole time.
